The challenge
To replace ageing assets to ensure customers, including businesses, in the area have a power supply that meets their needs now and in the future.
The solution
The delivery of $1.6 million of renewal work that involves upgrading and maintaining a variety of electrical equipment, including power poles, crossarms, and rewiring sections of power lines.
In order to complete the work quickly, a series of planned, intermittent power outages in and around Greytown occur during October, November and early December.
The benefit
Upgrading the electricity network in the town now, to allow for the growth occurring and a more reliable supply, will help avoid unplanned power outages in the long-term.

FAQ
We strive to minimise impact in the design and placement of network infrastructure and we’re still planning and consulting on the route for the new circuit. The circuit will be a mix of overhead lines – which you will see, and underground cable – which you won’t see. You’ll also see a new building at our Putaruru substation, replacing the ageing existing building there.
